Ora Cogan (10.25.24)
Ora Cogan is a kaleidoscope of music, moving, shrouded in myth, through genre – with a gothic lens, Cogan writes captivatingly as a country, folk, post-punk, psych rock, and traditional balladry artist to craft a “glacial and cinematic yet tinglingly intimate sound” that “sweeps audiences away under a tsunami of blissful sonic complexity.”
The child of a photojournalist and a musician, Cogan grew up in Canada on a small island immersed in live music and creative thought. Becoming a singer and instrumentalist was natural for the artist, who moved out at 15 to pursue her career. Now based in Vancouver, the writer experiments with both the cultural and musical past – inspired by old compositions and folk tales – to create her artistic present.
Ora Corgan has just released her latest single and music video “Feel Life,” and is fresh off of releasing her fifth studio album Formless under her independent label entitled Prism Tongue Records. We recommend listening to this album in its entirety, of course. If you’re not down for that, check out Cogan’s singles: Cowgirl, Katie Cruel (inspired by a Scottish folk tale), and Dyed to get an example of what’s to come at the Horn Gallery this FRIDAY, OCT 25th 2024 with doors @ 8:30, opener student band 36 Rituals @ 9.
