On Saturday night, New York City based singer-songwriter Allegra Krieger will be performing at the Horn Gallery. Krieger’s music blends elements of the indie folk rock genre into poetic cadences characterized by soulful vocals and melodic instrumentals. Most notably, her work is represented by her confessional voice and introspective lyrics that meditate on purpose, faith, and perspectives on love. She has a special ability to beautifully retell, without romanticizing, her struggles. Songwriting has helped her deal with pain and find a renewed respect for living. As a result, Krieger has put out an impressive five studio albums since 2020. Through her witty poetic lyricism she writes questions on life’s impermanence into the margins of her most recent album: Art of the Unseen Infinity Machine. In Krieger’s own words, this album explores how life keeps moving you forward which “can be really beautiful even though it can [also] be ugly and hard.” To Allegra Krieger, writing music serves as a resting place-an escape from life's mundanity and other harsh realities. She finds refuge in her creative practice and encourages listeners to reflect on their own lives and do the same.
